General CBD Information
Here, we try to cover the many questions you may have about CBD, including the various products available and its effectiveness. If you still have questions after reading this page, please get in touch, and we’ll answer your questions as quickly as possible.
The FDA does not regulate CBD. Anyone who wishes to use CBD should first speak to their doctor — they cannot prescribe cannabinoids, but your doctor may have an opinion on it. As with any addition to your wellness routine, you’ll want to make sure you do your research and buy from a reputable company.
What Is CBD?
CBD, or cannabidiol, is a compound that comes from the cannabis plant — one of over 400 substances it contains — which is extracted and then mixed with an oil — either hemp or coconut — to make CBD oil for a variety of uses.
CBD comes from the hemp plant (Cannabis sativa), but is not psychoactive like THC.
Is CBD Legal?
CBD is legal to buy in many countries, including the United States. In some countries, it is not yet legal, and in many more, legalization is a gray area. Australia, Belgium, Norway, and China are a few countries where CBD (and possibly hemp) is illegal, so be careful when traveling with these products.
What Can CBD Oil Be Used For?
We go into further detail on our website about the various uses of CBD oil.
Does CBD Oil Encourage Sleep?
Lots of people use medical cannabis to combat their insomnia and sleep apnea. When you are more relaxed and not in a state of stress — or flight or fight mode — you can sleep better. CBD reacts with the Endocannabinoid System in the body and can promote relaxation for your body and mind.
Can CBD Oil Make You Sleepy?
Though CBD can be valuable if you have insomnia or sleep problems, it doesn’t make you sleepy. As described in the previous question, it discourages your brain from racing and encourages a calming feeling. Rather than sedating you, CBD can get to the root of the problem by promoting balance in your life.
Can CBD Cure Cancer?
Human studies are required to test CBD’s potential for treating cancer and no definitive conclusions have been reached by the medical community. Some people claim that using a mix of THC/CBD helps them manage the side effects of cancer treatment.
Can CBD Oil Help My Anxiety?
Many people like CBD because it can promote the relief of stresses and anxieties from everyday life, although its effects have not yet been medically proven. Every person will have a different result from CBD so the appropriate strain and dosage will vary for each person. If you are suffering from anxiety, consult your doctor before routinely taking CBD.
How Much CBD Oil Should I Take?
There is no one-size-fits-all dosage since CBD hasn’t been extensively studied yet. We cannot make specific recommendations for dosage.
Although it has been approved to sell legally if it contains 0.3% or less THC, governmental bodies and doctors do not make statements on how much CBD to take for certain conditions. This means dosages are open to interpretation, and people should proceed with caution when consuming CBD products. You’ll have to use a bit of trial and error to figure out what’s best for you personally.
Concentration varies from product to product. We discuss this more on our website.
Are There any Side Effects of Using CBD Products?
There are possible side effects of CBD usage. Though mild and infrequent, these include diarrhea, dry mouth, low blood pressure, changes in appetite, and fatigue. Currently, there is no indication that overdose is possible.
What Kind of CBD Products Are Best to Take?
There are four popular ways of taking CBD — oral, sublingual, inhalation, and topical. CBD oil taken sublingually — or under the tongue — is the most popular way CBD is taken, and the second-fasted method of absorption. People also take it in capsules, sprays and chew gummies, apply it topically with creams, or vape it, which hits the bloodstream faster than any other method.
When deciding which method of consumption is best, you need to think about your needs, lifestyle, and your budget, as pricing can vary widely across product types. We go over the different kinds of CBD in more detail on our website.
Can I Take it with “XYZ” Medication?
We cannot give medical advice, and advise you to speak to your doctor before using CBD in conjunction with prescription medicines.
